Kicks Deals 20 Must See Jordan Auctions + Campless Data (Part I)

Kicks Deals is always coming at us with great, well, kicks deals – but until recently, only at retail.  It looks like that is changing.  They have started inspecting eBay auctions to see if they can find deals there, as well.  On October 30 they posted 20 Must See Jordan Auctions on eBay, with their thoughts on whether each is a good deal.  Of course, to know if it’s a good deal, it helps to know eBay data, and that’s our expertise….

We’re not tracking all twenty of the auctions Kicks Deals’ highlighted, but here are three that we are, with the auction price, Kicks Deals’ assessment, and what the data says:

Air Jordan II Eminem The Way I Am

  • Auction price:  $2,899.95
  • Kicks Deals says:  Worth it
  • Data says:  8 pairs of deadstock Em 2s have sold on eBay in the past year.  Average price was $1,819.  Most expensive pair was $2,535.
  • We say:  Maybe.  14% more than the max, but only 8 pairs on the market last year.  It’s rare enough that a 14% markup is probably worth it.  But you might want to shop around to see if one closer to the average price shows up.

Air Jordan V Motorsports

  • Auction price:  $3,399.99
  • Kicks Deals says:  Worth it
  • Data says:  2 pairs of deadstock Motorsport 5s have sold on eBay in the past year.  They went for $3,025 and $2,225.
  • We say:  Yes.  Only two pairs on the market.  12% markup from the high ($3,025) is nothing for a pair this rare. Even compared to the low, if you’re spending $2200 you might as well spend $3400.

Air Jordan V Quai Friends & Family

  • Auction price:  $2,800
  • Kicks Deals says:  Worth it
  • Data says:  17 pairs were sold on eBay in the past year.  Average deadstock price was $906. The most expensive DS pair went for $2,050
  • We say:  No.  This one is a pass.  210% more!  17 pairs on the market!  Wait.  You’ll find a better deal.  Or this seller will drop his price soon.

Campless Conclusion:  All three pairs are priced more than the most expensive pair sold on eBay in the past year, but a closer look at the data shows that this doesn’t necessarily make it a bad deal.  Listen to your sneakerhead data.

In Part II we’ll revisit our database and see if we can find some data on some of the others.

Which of the others would you like us to research?
